Memorable Manitobans: Charles Ian “Chick” Duncan (c1925-2004)

Golf pro.

Born around 1925, son of Charles and Georgina Duncan, he grew up at Jasper, Alberta. During the Second World War, he served in the Royal Canadian Navy. After his military discharge, he attended the University of British Columbia and, in 1959, became a golf professional at Edmonton, Alberta. In 1960, he moved to Winnipeg to served as the head professional at the Niakwa Golf and Country Club until retirement in 1990. He served on the Manitoba PGA Executive and was involved in raising funds and teaching golf to handicapped children. He died at Winnipeg on 13 May 2004.
