Boxer, restauranteur.
Born at Winnipeg on 11 January 1908, one of seven children of Italian immigrants Frank DiCosimo (1878-1946) and Angela Palma (1877-1945), he boxed professionally as a youth. He later founded DiCosimo’s Chicken Inn in 1942, one of the first fast-food restaurants in the city and an important youth hangout. On 23 November 1925, he married Angelina “Angela” Orestes (1908-2000) at WInnipeg and they had five children. The family lived at 681 Goulding Street. He was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and Leonardo De Vinci Society. He died suddenly at Winnipeg on 27 November 1960 and was buried in the Assumption Roman Catholic Cemetery.
