Lawyer, literary figure.
Born at Cobourg, Ontario on 23 August 1887, son of Charles James Crawley and Maude Cameron Buck, his childhood was spent at Holland. He practiced law with the firm of Machray, Sharpe, Dennistoun, Locke, and Crawley until he became blind in 1933.
On 19 June 1915, he married Jean Nairn Horn (1889-1972, daughter of David Horn) at Winnipeg and they had two sons: Charles David Crawley (1916-?) and Michael Crawley (1919-1991). Active in Winnipeg's arts community, he was involved in establishing Community Players of Winnipeg in 1921. In September 1934, he moved to Victoria, British Columbia where he was editor of the poetry magazine Contemporary Verse (1941-1952). He died at Victoria on 25 July 1975.
