Broadcaster.
Born on 3 November 1935 to Evelynne Mae Galbraith (1912-1992) and Leo Alphonse Cloutier (1909-1975), he had a lifelong interest in cars, and in 1960 was one of the founders of the Manitoba Classic and Antique Auto Club, along with his wife-to-be, Lorna Mailey.
He spent most of his career in broadcasting, including working for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation’s broadcast teams at the 1976 Olympic and 1978 Commonwealth Games. In 1963, he moved to Stonewall, where he and Lorna lived for 18 years and raised three children. There, he opened his own radio station, CFQX FM in Selkirk, sharing management with Lorna. It eventually became Winnipeg’s number-one country music station.
He moved to Victoria, British Columbia and later settled in Nanaimo. An avid motorcyclist, he travelled to the 60th anniversary of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota in 2000, and rode from British Columbia to Newfoundland in the summer of 2006, at the age of 71.
He died at Nanaimo on 7 January 2013.
