Memorable Manitobans: Oscar Cantor (1925-2016)
Grocer.
Born at Poland on 7 January 1925, he moved with his family to Winnipeg in 1928. For over 70 years, he and his twin brother Joe ran the family business, Cantor’s Grocery, established in 1944 by their father Edward. In 2009, he oversaw the expansion of the store into a new 13,5000 square foot space on Logan Avenue. He died on 27 May 2016 and was buried in Shaarey Zedek Cemetery.
