Educator.
Born at Yorkton, Saskatchewan on 19 June 1920, son of Georges Calancie (c1885-?) and Mary Calancie (c1892-?), he became a school teacher and attained a Senior Diploma (1955) from the Faculty of Education at the University of Alberta. He was Principal at Wingham School (1944-1946) and Vice-Principal at Glenboro School (1946-?) in Manitoba, and worked at Spring Coulee School (1950-?) and Ponoka (circa 1953) in Alberta before moving to British Columbia where he taught in the Okanagan Valley area (circa 1968) and Vancouver (circa 1974). In the 1950s, he married Mary McNabb McLelland through the couple had divorced by the early 1970s. A resident on Winnipeg Street in Penticton, he died at the Penticton Regional Hospital on 21 August 1994.
