Memorable Manitobans: Janet “Jenny” Burns (1929-2003)

Union leader.

Born at Glasgow, Scotland on 31 December 1929, daughter of John and Isabela White, she immigrated to Canada in 1957. She had a 35-year career with the City of Winnipeg and was a President of CUPE Local 500. She enjoyed travelling and sewing. She died at Winnipeg on 13 November 2003 and was interred in the Garry Memorial Park.
