Memorable Manitobans: Herbert Edward Burbidge (1880-1945)Business executive. Born at London, England in 1880, son of Richard Burbidge, he was educated at Maidenhead College before commencing a career In wholesale merchandise at London in 1897. For nine years, he was connected with the executive of Harrods Limited in London. He came to Winnipeg in 1910 where he was saleshops commissioner for the Hudson’s Bay Company. In 1902, he married Harriet G. Hamilton of Littleton, Middlesex, England and they had one son. He was a member of the Manitoba Club. His recreations included riding, boating, motoring, swimming, and tennis. He lived in the Royal Alexandra Hotel.
