Publisher, municipal official.
Born at Gilbert Plains on 1 October 1918, son of Bruce Brown and Sarah Doak, he attended Brickburn School. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force between June 1941 and December 1944 then returned to Gilbert Plains. The following year, he and his wife took over operation of the Gilbert Plains Maple Leaf from his brother Everett Percival Brown. He served as its Publisher and she as Editor, retiring in 1977 and passing on the operation to their son Terry Brown. On 23 November 1936, he married Olive Eleanor Alberta “Ollie” Brown and they had three sons. He served as Mayor of Gilbert Plains (1956-1957, 1962-1965), was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and Manitoba Weekly Newspapers Association. He died at Gilbert Plains on 20 February 1983 and was buried in the Chatsworth Cemetery.
