Memorable Manitobans: Charles A. Brack (1869-1900)

Educator.

Born at Collingwood, Ontario around November 1869, son of John Brack (1828-1911) and Elizabeth Conn (1832-1902), he attended Collingwood Collegiate and three sessions at the University of Toronto. He taught in Ontario, including as Assistant-Principal of Millbrook School before moving to Manitoba in 1897 as Principal of Emerson School (1897-1900).

On 12 August 1897, he married Sarah L. McLean (?-?) at York, Ontario and they had a son, Douglas Brack (1898-1898). He died at Emerson on 25 January 1900 and his body was returned to Ontario for burial in the First Presbyterian Cemetery at Collingwood. He was commemorated by the Brack Memorial Library at Emerson School.
