Community activist.
Born at Miami on 25 October 1926, one of two daughters of Ida May Jordan (1895-1962) and George Delmont Bishop (1886-1955), in her teens she spent two years convalesing in the Ninette Sanatorium, which led to a lifelong interest in children's health. She later moved to Winnipeg and worked for Canada Mortgage and Housing for 26 years until retirement in 1982. She was a long-time member of the board for the Children's Hospital Foundation and was a founding member of the Children's Hospital Book Market, spending 49 years marking books in preparation for the annual sale, known as the “Pockey Book Lady”. She died at the St. Boniface Hospital on 17 September 2009 and was buried in the Altamont Cemetery. She is commemorated by the Margaret Bishop Child Life Endowment Fund.
