Community activist.
Born at Athleague, Ireland on 14 February 1947, she immigrated to Canada in 1969 and moved to The Pas to work as a missionary with the Legion of Mary. She moved to Winnipeg in 1971 and worked in real estate and later with Toronto Dominion Bank. In 1975, she married Gerry Bessette. She spent many years on the executive of the Irish Association of Manitoba and was its first female President (1992-1994). She died at Winnipeg on 10 April 2006.
