Memorable Manitobans: Richard Joseph Bell (1859-1939)Baker. Born in Ontario on 1 June 1859, he came to Winnipeg in 1877. He and his family operated Bell's Bakery at 813 Main Street for many years. He and wife Minnie Elizabeth “Mary” Yates (1866-?) had four children: Clara Anderson Bell (1893-1983), Richard James “Dick” Bell (1896-1969), Viola Esther Bell (1898-1992), and Wilford Douglas Bell (1909-1978). He died at Winnipeg on 16 January 1939 and was buried in the Old Kildonan Cemetery. See also:
