Memorable Manitobans: Harold J. Bedford (1906-2004)

Cleric.

Born on 5 January 1906, son of William H. Bedford and Agnes Howard, he served for 30 years as Chaplain at Stony Mountain Penitentiary and ten years at the Old City Hall in Toronto, Ontario. In his elder years he assisted at Holy Rosary Parish at Milton, Ontario and later at Our Lady of Lourdes in Toronto. In 1970, in commemoration of his community service, he received a Centennial Medal from the Manitoba Historical Society. He died at Scarborough, Ontario on 6 January 2004.
