Memorable Manitobans: Agnes Bannerman (1879-1970)

Educator.

Born on a farm near High Bluff on 5 June 1879, daughter of Jean Bannerman (1850-?) and Selkirk Bannerman (1842-1921), she attended Nairn School. By the time of the 1901 Manitoba census, she was working as a teacher and later served as the Principal of Victoria School (1920-1921) and Lockport School (1938-1943). She died unmarried at Selkirk on 8 March 1970 and was buried in the Portage Hillside Cemetery.
