Memorable Manitobans: Ernest Robert Andrew “Ernie” Anderson (1901-1977)Municipal official. Born at Winnipeg on 20 December 1901, son of Olaves Anderson (1869-1945) and Annie May McLelland (1876-1939), he worked as an electrical contractor and served as a Senior NCO in the Royal Canadian Air Force for four years. He was Stephen Juba’s election campaign manager in 1956, an advocate for civic reform, and a City of Winnipeg Alderman for Ward 2 (1961-1962). On 8 January 1971, he married Jessie Edythe Saunders (1909-1991, widow of Cecil Edmund Tremblay) at Home Street Christian Church . They had three children. The family lived at 666 Maryland Avenue. He died at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital on 5 November 1977.
