Memorable Manitobans: William James Douglas “Bill” Allum (1917-1992)Hockey player. Born in the Winnipeg neighborhood of Elmwood in 1917, he attended Lord Selkirk School. He played professional hockey for many years, including a stint with the New York Rangers in their 1940 Stanley Cup season. Allum also played lacrosse for several Mann Cup teams. He coached several sports after retirement. He was inducted as a Builder into the Manitoba Hockey Hall of Fame in 1990.
