Memorable Manitobans: Peter Arthur Winter (1923-1994)Military officer, museum curator. Born at London, England on 4 August 1923, he emigrated to Canada in 1929 and spent the remainder of his childhood at Montreal. He worked for the Fairchild Aircraft Company before enlisting in the Canadian Armed Forces in 1943. He remained in the military after the Second World War, and retired in 1978 with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer. During the later years of his military service, he was in charge of the RCA Museum at Shilo and was President of the Association of Manitoba Museums. He had also served as President of the Assiniboine Historical Society (1979). He died at the Brandon General Hospital on 20 September 1994 and was buried in the Brandon Cemetery.
