Memorable Manitobans: David James Wilson (1945-2004)Community activist. Born at Winnipeg in 1945, son of Herbert Wilson and Elizabeth Merle Ellis, he worked in the food service industry for almost 40 years with Eaton’s, ARA Services (later Aramark), and Complete Purchasing Services. In 1999, he was Games Food Services Manager for the Pan American Games in Winnipeg, serving meals to over 20,000 athletes and volunteers and a million visitors. He was a President and longstanding board member of the Manitoba Restaurant Association, and an active board member and President-elect of the Canadian Association of Food Service Professionals. After moving to St. Albert, Alberta with his wife Shirley French, he served the community through numerous charitable and volunteer organizations, including the Christmas Bureau of Edmonton and the St. Albert Chamber of Commerce Trade Show Committee.
