Memorable Manitobans: Herbert R. Welsford (1865-1939)Police magistrate. Born at Dorset, England, he emigrated to North America and practiced law for some time in Minnesota. He arrived in Winnipeg in 1902 where he engaged in the real estate business. After World War One, he was appointed to the provincial police court bench, a position he held for nine years, retiring in September 1935.
