Memorable Manitobans: Augustus R. “Gussie” Wade (1860-1935)

Born in Ireland on 4 February 1860, he emigrated to Canada in 1879 and worked for a time at the Federal Bank. When the bank suspended operations in Canada in the late 1880s, he joined the Dominion crown timber and lands office in Winnipeg. He remained there until 1912 when he transferred to the Ottawa office. He died at Ottawa in March 1935.
