Murderer.
Born in Germany about 1887, he came to Canada in 1908. On 20 May 1931, while boarding with Lillian Walters (c1894-1981) at her home at 338 Riverton Avenue in Elmwood, he murdered three of her four children: George E. Walters (18 years), Irene Walters (12 years), and Doris Walter (9 years). He attempted to commit suicide but survived. Arrested and convicted of three counts of murder, he was the first prisoner to be executed at the Headingley Gaol, on 3 September 1931.
