Memorable Manitobans: Carol Leroy “Roy” Skelton (?-1988)

Businessman, politician.

He was associated with Carman Plumbing & Heating until he opened Skelton Hardware, which he operated until 1976. He was extremely active in the community, serving as a town councillor from 1957 to 1961 and as the Mayor of Carman from 1962 to 1967. In addition to his civic office, he was very involved in sports, helping to found the Carman Cardinals of the Man Dak league. He died at Carman on 5 February 1988.
