Memorable Manitobans: Robert Leslie “Alf/Bob” Silver (1951-2019)Actor, playwright, songwriter. Born at Brandon on 13 March 1951, son of Margarita and Gerald Silver, he travelled across Canada before settling at Nova Scotia. He wrote 15 novels and more than 40 scripts for stage and radio, most notably the mystery series Clean Sweep. He was a founding member of the Manitoba Association of Playwrights and the inaugural Playwright-in-Residence for the Manitoba Theatre Centre. His work was recognized by the Thomas Head Raddall Atlantic Fiction Prize, Margaret McWilliams Award (2007), and Our Choice Award. He died at Ardoise, Nova Scotia on 14 December 2019.
