Memorable Manitobans: Sigurbjorn “Siggi” Sigurdson (?-?)

Fisheries biologist.

In 1940, he joined the Game and Fisheries Branch of the Manitoba government, leaving the Lake Winnipeg Fish Producers Association where he had been Secretary. He became Supervisor of Fisheries in 1940 and Assistant Director of Game and Fisheries in 1946. When game and fisheries were separated in 1955, he became the first Director of the Fisheries Branch, retiring in 1960 and being succeeded by Burt Kooyman.
