Memorable Manitobans: Henry Martin Robinson (1845-1907)Journalist. An American, he was editor of the New Nation from January 1870 until he was fired by Louis Riel in March of that year for showing too much sympathy to American annexationism. He later wrote The Great Fur Land, or Sketches of Life in the Hudson’s Bay Territory (1879), which perpetuated many of the stereotypes about the fur trade and the Métis.
