Memorable Manitobans: Kenneth David Rapley (1911-2002)
Farmer, municipal official. Born on the family farm in the Rural Municipality of Strathclair on 16 November 1911, son of Herbert Rapley and Margaret Baldrow, he attended Wolfe Creek School and Strathclair School. He started farming in 1939, retiring in 1998. He was Reeve of the Rural Municipality of Strathclair (1952-1983), President of the Union of Manitoba Municipalities (1968-1969), and President of the Manitoba Good Roads Association (1970-1971). He served on the Municipal Advisory Committee, Municipal Audit Advisory Committee, Crown Lands Appeal Board, and Manitoba Beekeepers Compensation Board. At the local level, he was a member of the boards for the Strathclair Co-op, the Strathclair Credit Union, and the Strathclair Health Board. He was a trustee for Birdtail River School No. 58, and a member of the Manitoba Association of School Trustees and the Strathclair Agricultural Society.
