Memorable Manitobans: George Russell Pearson (1906-1987)Educator. Born near Miami on 1 August 1906, son of Joseph Pearson and Flora Patterson, he taught school for 42 years, working at Castleavery School (1927-1929) and Glenboro School, and serving as the Principal of Decker School (1939-1956) and Cypress River School (1963-1964). He retired in 1970. In 1934, he married Mabel Doupe of Crandall. They had three children: Jean Pearson Voth, Georgina Pearson McEvoy, and James Pearson.
