Memorable Manitobans: Henry Scovil “Harry” Nowlan (1887-1977)

Optometrist.

Born at Sussex, New Brunswick in 1887, he came to Winnipeg and practiced as an optometrist for over 35 years, during which time he served as President of the Manitoba Association of Optometrists and President of the Canadian Optometric Association. He was made an honorary life member of the latter association. He had two children: Lois Patricia Nowlan and Richard Scovil Nowlan. He died at Winnipeg on 1 March 1977.
