Memorable Manitobans: Cécile Gagnon Mulaire (1932-2022)
Community activist.
Born st Saint-Pierre-Jolys on 16 October 1932, daughter of Eloi and Mary Gagnon, she married pharmacist René Jacques Mulaire (1929-2014) on 22 July 1954 and they had seven children. She became well-known in Manitoba's Francophone community as Madame Bicolo, the creator of a children's activity page in the weekly Francophone newspaper La Liberté. In 1983, she received Le Prix Riel in recognition of this service. She died on 29 March 2022.
