Indigenous leader.
She served as Chief of the Pimicikamak Cree Nation in northern Manitoba. In 2022, she was the first woman to be elected as Grand Chief of the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs, and was re-elected to the position in July 2024. In recognition of her community service, she received a Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal (2022). She collapsed while speaking to media outside the Winnipeg Law Courts Building and died on 6 September 2024.
