Memorable Manitobans: John McLeod (1821-1920)Settler. Born in Red River, he carried the mail between Hudson's Bay Company posts, and later worked at the first grist mill at Red River. A veritable giant, he was said to be 6 feet, 10 inches tall. He later trapped in the Whitemouth District.
