Indigenous leader.
Born at the Tootinaowaziibeeng First Nation in 1943, son of Christine and Victor McKay, he lived in his community until being sent to the Assiniboia Residential School. On 19 September 1973, he married Rena Burston and they had six children and adopted a son. In 1977, he began working with the Department of Indian and Northern Affairs but poor health led him to quit. He then did consulting work with several First Nations in Manitoba and Saskatchewan. He was a band councillor for two years then served as Chief of the Tootinaowaziibeeng First Nation (2008-2010). He died at the Victoria General Hospital on 11 November 2011 and was buried in the Tootinaowaziibeeng Cemetery.
