Memorable Manitobans: David McCowan (1849-1930)

Farmer, municipal official.

Born in Ontario on 1 November 1849, he came to Manitoba in 1877 and farmed. He is remembered for his long service as Secretary-Treasurer of the Rural Municipality of Portage la Prairie (1893-1930). He died at Portage la Prairie on 10 February 1930 and was buried in the Portage Hillside Cemetery.
