Memorable Manitobans: Leslie Douglas Mann (1923-1977)Musician. Born in Edmonton, he became principal clarinet of the CBC Winnipeg Orchestra in 1958 and the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra in 1960. Largely self-taught, he became increasingly interested in composition, completing three symphonies before his early death.
