Colin William Evan MacPherson

Journalist.
Born at Moosomin, Saskatchewan on 21 December 1927, son of John A. MacPherson and Annie P. Adams, he received a BA degree from the University of Saskatchewan (1948). His 44-year career in newspaper journalism included time at the Regina Leader-Post (1948-?), Winnipeg Tribune (where he was City Editor), Medicine Hat News, and Ottawa Citizen (1962-1993 as Managing Editor, National Editor, Associate Editor, Citizen's Ombudsman).
He served as President of the Winnipeg Press Club (1955), Canadian Managing Editors' Conference, and National Press Club of Canada, and was a life member of the Parliamentary Press Gallery. He was executive secretary for the Michener Awards Foundation for 25 years. He retired in January 1993. He and wife Jacqueline “Jackie” Smale (?-?) had three children.
He died at Ottawa, Ontario on 22 June 1995.
