Memorable Manitobans: Violet Morrison Leeson (1902-?)


Born at Strathclair on 12 April 1902, daughter of Donald Morrison and Lucy Bacon, she took her early education at Elgin School then Strathclair Consolidated School. She married Earl Leeson on 14 June 1922, and they set up to farm on the family homestead. She wrote poetry starting in the 1920s, on the subject of family life on a farm, women’s work as a housewife of the 1930s, and life as an elderly person. She was alive as of May 2000.
