Businessman, inventor.
Born on 5 October 1891, son of Polish immigrants John Krushel (1869-?) and Bertha Yeske (1872-?), brother of Henry Krushel, his family migrated to Plum Coulee in 1892 and later to the Morden area. He opened a blacksmith and repair shop at Morden, where in the early 1930s he invented the “Krushel Krusher”, a superior machine for crushing grain. In time, he added augers, grain loaders, cement mixers, stoves, furnaces, and hammer mills to his product line and founded Standard Gas Engine Works Limited. Under his son-in-law John E. Buhler, the company became Buhler Industries.
He was married twice, first to Martha Kurtz (?-1961) with whom he had eight children: David Krushel (?-1965), Ida Krushel (wife of Fred Buchholz), Ruth Krushel (wife of John E. Buhler), Dorothy Krushel (wife of Don Nagazina), Herman Krushel, Leonard Krushel, Ernie Krushel, and Danny Krushel. In 1961, he married widow Susan Schroeder Hiebert (?-?).
He died at Morden on 30 October 1984 and was buried in the Morden Hillside Cemetery.
