Memorable Manitobans: Leslie Wilfred Knight (1923-2016)
Physician, farmer, municipal official.
Born at Regina, Saskatchewan on 23 April 1923, son of Edith and Les Knight, he moved with his family to Souris in 1925. After graduating with a medical degree from the Manitoba Medical School, he returned to Souris and practiced medicine for 53 years. He was active in building of the Souris Medical Centre. He also operated a livestock feed lot and grain farm. He served as Chairman of the Souris Valley School Division and Mayor of Souris (1966-1969, 1976-1978). He died at Souris on 5 July 2016.
