Born England, 1837, son of Daniel and Elizabeth James. Educated Isle of Wight, England. Commenced career as usher in school, Isle of Wight, 1856. Came to Canada, 1869; farmed in Brandon district. Honourary secretary, Brandon General Hospital. Auditor to Western Judicial District Board. Married to Sarah Wellband, Brandon, 1895; has two sons and one daughter. Conservative; Protestant. Address: Brandon, Manitoba.
