Memorable Manitobans: Henry William Royce Hatch (1902-1975)

Municipal official, farmer.

Born at Oak Lake on 11 November 1902, son of William Levinshire Hatch (1873-?) and Mary Elizabeth Montgomery (1872-1941), he grew up on 27-8-24W south of Oak Lake and resided in the area most of his life. He served as a Councillor and Reeve (1949-1951, 1955-1959) of the Rural Municipality of Sifton. On 1 October 1937, he married teacher Winnifred Isabelle “Winnie” Steen at Oak Lake and they had three daughters and a son as well as a foster daughter. They move to Brandon in 1970 where he died on 3 February 1975 with burial in the Oak Lake Cemetery.
