Memorable Manitobans: John T. Griffiths (?-?)Governor of Red River Settlement (1847-1848). He attended the Council of Assiniboia for the first time on 28 June 1847 and was present at three meetings. He succeeded Colonel Crofton both as Governor of Assiniboia and Commander of the troops. He left the Red River Settlement when the troops were withdrawn in 1848. Sources:E. H.
