Memorable Manitobans: Elizabeth Grierson (1894-1984)

Pioneer.

Born at Kilwinning, Ayrshire, Scotland on 2 September 1894, she and her husband John M. Grierson (c1892-1941) were early settlers in the Kings Park area of Winnipeg, having settled there in 1923 and purchasing the land which subsequently became Grierson Avenue—renamed from St. Georges Avenue in recognition of their long residence there. She was a long-time member of the Old St. Andrews United Church. She died at Winnipeg on 5 May 1984 and was buried in the Garry Memorial Park.
