Farmer.
A mixed-blood farmer who had settled in Portage la Prairie, he was captured as a spy by Louis Riel in February 1870. According to Riel, he had been a courier for friends of John Schultz, the leader of the Canadian Party, and the Métis had demanded his execution on the spot. He was led to one of the bastions of Fort Garry to be executed by A. D. Lépine and Elzéar Goulet, but was allowed to escape.
