Memorable Manitobans: Simone Carriere Desjarlais (1929-2006)Community activist. Born at Marchand on 30 September 1929, daughter of Frank and Bertha Carriere, he was actively involved with the Manitoba Metis Federation (MMF) and spent many years on its Board of Directors. She was the founding member of the Lundar MMF local where she resided for 25 years. Along with Anne Ross, she was one of the founders of Mount Carmel Clinic. She died at Lundar on 2 February 2006.
