Magistrate.
Born at Portage la Prairie on 7 March 1923, one of three daughters of Mary Edna Pears (1900-1947) and David Richard “Dick” Davis (1892-1970), she grew up on a farm in the Beaver Creek district. In 1947, she became Manitoba’s first female Justice of the Peace, becoming in 1962 a limited jurisdiction magistrate and Deputy Clerk of the Court. After retiring in 1978, and receiving a City of Winnipeg Community Service Award, she co-managed the Pinewood Lodge at Granite Lake, Ontario until shortly before her death and spent winters in California. She died at the Riverview Health Centre on 30 November 1997 and was buried in the Beaver Creek Cemetery.
