Memorable Manitobans: Mary Alice Dafoe (1891-1983)Community activist. Born in 1891, daughter of John Wesley Dafoe and Alice Parmelee (1866-1961), she served as President of the Winnipeg Branch of the Young Women's Christian Association and was a lifelong worker with the Anglican Church of Canada. In recognition of her community service, she was inducted into the Manitoba Order of the Buffalo Hunt (1979). She died at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital on 24 November 1983.
