Memorable Manitobans: Thomas Creighton (1874-1949)Prospector. Born at Dunedin, Ontario on 7 March 1874, he prospected in Manitoba for years before discovering in 1915 the ore base that became the Flin Flon mine. He later served as supervisor of exploration with Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting and was President of the HsB Air Transport Company. He was a skilled tennis and badminton player. He died at Flin Flon on 6 April 1949 and was buried in the Ross Lake Cemetery. See also:
