Memorable Manitobans: F. Douglas “Doug” Crandle (c1927-2009)Educator. Born at Roland around 1927, eldest of three sons of Alexander Crandle (1900-1965) and Katharine Crandle (1896-1970), he served in the Canadian Army during the Second World War. Following his return from military service, he became a teacher, working for 36 years at Shoal Lake School (?-?), Minnedosa South School (1952-1953, Principal), Earl Haig School (1957-1958), and Camp Shilo Schools (1961-1984). On 6 July 1957, he married Marguerite Andrew at Minnedosa. They had no children. His hobbies included buying and selling antiques, and attending Brandon University Bobcats basketball games.
