Indigenous leader.
Born on the Pukatawagan Reserve in 1886, he served as chief of the Mathias Colomb Indian Band from 1933 to 1958 and was instrumental in its acquisition of a sawmill. A native Cree speaker, he was a source of the old ways to his people and was regarded as the “spiritual grandfather” for the community. He died on the reserve in 1991.
